After being inundated all week long with news about the NFL Hall of Fame Induction ceremony (primarily of Troy Aikman but also of Rayfield Wright), this thought pops into my mind: What an incredibly shallow society we are.
There are people all over America, Texas, and Wise County that bust their butts for the betterment of mankind. Whether they be social workers, teachers, doctors, lawyers (yeah, some of us spend a ton of time helping the poor), pastors, CPS workers, - and the list goes on and on - we will give national TV and radio coverage, as well as multi-page newspaper spreads, to someone that . . . uh . . .played football very well.
That's what we honor. That's what we cherish.
And, hey, I'm a football fan.
