As all the news stations gush over the life and death of a golfer (and, yeah, he did seem to be a good guy), I thought this fact was interesting:
Nelson was married to his first wife for 50 years until she died. He later remarried and stayed married for another 19 years (until his death.) That's pretty amazing.
And I also learned he didn't drink - a bit of irony for any of you that have visited the "Pavilion" at the Byron Nelson Golf Tournament in Las Colinas. (If you google for images using "Byron Nelson" as the search term, the above image comes up on the first page.)
