As I sit here after watching a very, very good AFC Championship game between Indianapolis and New England, I had to stop down with these post-game, nationally televised words of winning Colts coach Tony Dungy:
"But I just have to thank the Lord. He did it in such a way that nobody would believe it. And we've got to to give the Lord a lot of credit for giving us the strength to do it."
If the Lord is concerned about an NFL game, we've all got problems. (And I'd be even more concerned if He controlled the "way" the win occurred.)
But it did remind me of a pre-game prayer led by a coach when I was a spare varsity player at Bridgeport. It began, "Dear Lord, we need a win. And we need a win bad." And I am not making that up.
