While searching through the new Time magazine at lunch (which has an article on the new Google Wave by the way), I learned that the greatest comic strip in the history of ever is being reproduced in a five volume set. It's a little hard to explain how a penguin, sleazy lawyer, and an occasional appearance of a near catatonic cat who utters "ack" and "pbthhh" can be cutting edge humor, but it was.
And the author was discovered while a student at the University of Texas.
