Just Found The Wise County Tea Party Twitter Account

Here.

Uh, and for that tweet, every pastor might also want to check out section 501(c)(3) of the Tax Code before they jeopardize their church's tax exempt status.

Kid Being Attacked By Ghost?

Video Summary: Two instances of a kid either doing some Academy Award winning acting OR he's being attacked by a freakin' ghost!!  (Oh, yeah, and those two scenes are surrounded by people talking who cannot possibly be understood.)

Rumor Mill: Nike Cowboys Uniform for 2012

I Told You That End Zone Looked Dangerous

... so it was just announced . . .

I've never heard of anything like that.

Random Friday Morning Thoughts

  • I've never seen a Harry Potter movie nor will I ever, but I'm aware there's a new one being released this weekend. According to Fox 4 this morning, the movie had a midnight showing at Dallas' Northpark Mall  on 15 screens (!!) last night and they were all sold out. Money. Machine.
  • Because of class project, there was a miniature race car being built in my kitchen last night out of nothing but fruits and vegetables. I suspect the competition will be dominated by some kid whose dad is an engineer.
  • Do you know you'll get carded for trying to buy Super Glue? Did you know I had to go to the store to buy Super Glue twice last night? Did you know Super Glue works on fruits and vegetables?
  • The Fort Worth cop on trial this week for Intoxication Manslaughter change his plea to Guilty in the middle of trial, but the jury still gave him the maximum of twenty years.  I thought it was interesting that there was evidence of surveillance tapes from the bars of him drinking -- you would think evidence like that would be commonplace but that's the first time I've ever seen it.
  • Deadspin ranked the 100 worst NFL players of all time and a Cowboy came in at #3. (The Fan's Richie Whitt chose the same player about a month ago in his Cowboy Worst Quarterbacks Of All Time list.)
  • Showed the 2nd Grader Google Streetview last night to let her see where I grew up. I'm not sure she batted an eye at that technology.
  • Is it any surprise that the bakery at Walmart looks more enticing than your run of the mill community "bake sale"?
  • The Ticket's Gordon Keith gets to nominate someone for "Texan of The Year" for the Dallas Morning News and it is surprisingly touching.
  • Man, when I said "get read for a Royal Wedding beat down" the other day, even I underestimated the hype. Once it gets here, it'll be 24/7 coverage.
  • We are doomed if this is for real.
  • I've signed up to run the Dallas Turkey Trot again this year -- I've done it for over 10 years and it's still one of my favorite things to do. (Although the early projections show a massive cold front coming through on Wednesday.)
  • If the Evil Empire loses to Florida Atlantic this weekend, we might here Austin implode.
  • I've discovered a college football talk show channel on satellite radio and it seems like every call is from the South, and they normally want to talk about Auburn and Alabama. They take it serious. (Or is it "seriously"?)
  • Time magazine's list of the finalists for Person of the Year is here. My guess: The winner will be the American Unemployed Worker. (The award is normally given to the person who has had the most impact on the country.) About three years ago, when social media was just beginning to explode, the winner was "You".
  • Days since last win: Tiger Woods (369), Dale Earnhardt Jr. (887), Danica Patrick (943)

Rep. Leo Berman, R-Tyler Is Not A Smart Man

"This bill is necessary because we have a president whom the American people don't know whether he was born in Kenya or some other place," Rep. Leo Berman, R-Tyler, said in reference to President Barack Obama and of House Bill 295. "If you are running for president or vice president, you've got to show here in Texas that you were born in the United States and the birth certificate is your proof."

More Pulitzer Reporting By Me

For those intersted in the Eva Longoria and Tony Parker split because Parker allegedly had an affair with ex-teammate Brent Barry's wife, well, here's a pic of the wife. Hey, now.

Random Thursday Morning Thoughts

  • Cop training video about Satanic rituals with a chick playing dead while wearing a bikini. Because we all know there are lots of Satanic cult murders to solve.
  • A .45 blood-alcohol concentration. And he's convicted of a 9th DWI. What could the sentence in Parker County possibly be?
  • One of these days, I want to be on an expert panel for DWI law reformation.
  • Still don't support him, but if you want to see a touching picture between George W. and Laura at the groundbreaking for his library, you have to see this. Edit: Link fixed here.
  • I really like Modern Family - I laugh out loud every time.
  • Had a plumber come to the house yesterday who fixed two leaks for $200. Considering that I was certain the shower leak was going to require the ripping out of a wall of tile, I've never been so happy to spend $200.
  • I looked up last night and saw the end of Hell's Kitchen. That show looks like an absolute beating.
  • The Federal Government announcing it was considering taking action over Four Lokos (it contains alcohol and caffeine!!!!) borders on Idiocracy. I guess next they'll ban Red Bull and Vodka.
  • Boyd's new stadium and turf is bringing in an odd playoff game for Saturday: Amarillo Arbor vs. Hall Sacred Heart --- a TAPPS Division IV. (Sacred Heart is in Crosby just outside of Houston.)
  • WBAP dedicated a whole segment this morning to "how not to gain weight over the holidays" complete with an "expert" being brought in.  I've got some advice: Don't be a pig.
  • Yep, I was first with the story of the Carter-Riverside teacher having a naughty relationship with a student. I wonder where I'll put my Pulitzer?
  • It's good to see Sarah Palin's daughters acting so mature on Facebook. I had heard about the incidents but didn't know how bad it was.  That family is much closer to being the Osbournes than the First Family.
  • From the email bag: "I would like to nominate Brittny Gastineau, new girlfriend of Michael Phelps and daughter of former New York Jets Defense end to be tomorrow's (or today's) 'hey, now'".
  • Sir, I trump you with Natalie Portman epic pics from yesterday.
  • Football fans, you have to see the football field layout in Wrigley Field for this weekend's game between Illinois and Northwestern. Someone is going to die.

And Another . . . Hey, Now

Just got a tip that this gal has left her teaching position at a Fort Worth high school after being arrested today on a sexually related offense involving a 16 year old student.  And it appears that some of the inappropriate contact occurred in a hospital after the kid was taken there after an athletics injury -- oh, my.

There are good odds that Fox 4 News is all over this one tonight.

Edit: Star-Telegram has jumped on it.

That The Way Manager Of The Year Voting Go

Wait. What? No Ron Washington.

Random Wednesday Morning Thoughts

  • Got a report that the part of 380 where the Alvord girl wreck occurred was shut down yesterday -- probably for an accident reconstruction investigation.
  • Attended a 2nd Grade Thanksgiving Play last night. Kind of cute. And it comes in under 30 minutes.
  • Since the Family Unit watches Glee, I end up halfway watching Glee. Apparently every episode has a dance number which "mashes up" two songs: Last night it was Rhianna's "Umbrella" and Gene Kelly's "Singing In The Rain." That wasn't bad.
  • I then pulled up the Youtube clip of the famous dance scene from the movie "Singing In The Rain" and proclaimed to the kids that it was Fred Astaire. I saw my error this morning. Fail.
  • I've been injury free for two years despite my jogging. Now I've got this weird pain in my hip. Hope I don't need a bionic replacement.
  • I'm submitting a client to a polygraph exam this morning. I rarely do that, but if he passes the case will be killed. If he fails (which I doubt), the results can't be used against him.
  • As I write this, northbound I-35 by the old Reunion Arena is completely shut down due to --- you guessed it --- a wrong way driver.
  • If I see microwave directions to set the timer to say, oh, 1:30, I'll always choose an odd lesser number like 1:13.
  • Had forgotten this bible verse from Jesus: "I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me." I don't think that verse is honored very often.
  • Some people think Sarah Palin's daughter is surviving on Dancing With The [Kind of] Stars because of the Tea Party vote. I believe that.
  • Sat down to watch a DVR's Baylor girls v. #1 UConn girls last night and, as it comes down to the wire, I noticed that I failed to add extra time to the recording. So as the game goes under one minute with the teams neck and neck, the record ends.

Prince William Trying To Jinx Marriage

Giving her Princess Diana's ring? Really? Bad karma, buddy.

But get ready for a beat down of Royal Wedding coverage - and, wow, it's been 29 years since his parents had one. (Hey, I'd suggest the Little White Chapel in Vegas -- they can get you in and out of there in a hurry.)

This Is A Little Crazy

The best I can tell, no one died in this soon-to-happen-wreck (and Youtube tends to censor those kind of things), so if you want to watch what happens, here ya go.  But from the screen grab above everything looks perfectly safe. Right?

Trooper Death. No Details.

Had to look up Post, Texas.

Edit: The story.

Random Tuesday Morning Thoughts

  • Crazy weekend in the world of DWI: In addition to the 14 year old Intoxication Manslaughter case in Denton, we had a Fort Worth police officer arrested (they continue to be out of control), an allegedly intoxicated lady crashes with her four kids in the car, a cop is hit by an alleged drunk driver on Sunday afternoon on 820, and two died in a one car crash at 3:00 a.m. on Sunday morning on the George Bush Freeway (no mention of alcohol, but I'm guessing.)
  • News flash: Having a family is expensive. Sheesh.
  • And the amount of garbage and recyclables a family of four produces is astonishing.
  • Has ESPN's Chris Berman ever had a pop culture reference about anything after 1980?
  • Legal stuff: The Supreme Court granted review in a case yesterday regarding the scope of the Exclusionary Rule. Slowly but surely, it continues to chip away at the greatest constitutional protection we have.
  • A rodeo bull jumped into the stands at a Canadian rodeo -- Maybe the INXS song that was playing when he left the gate put him over the edge.
  • I know none of you listen to Mike Huckabee's The Huckabee Report -- it's a five minute radio show that can be heard locally on WBAP at 7:30 a.m.   I dare you to listen to it twice and not come to the conclusion that his humor is about as current as 1965. It is painful. And it truly makes me question his judgment.
  • After months of slowly moving out of it, recarpeting, and repainting it, we're finally getting around to putting Mrs. LL's house in the Lipsey Edition in Decatur on the market. We'll probably shop it here for a couple of weeks before listing it with a Realtor. Email me if interested. (blog2 [at] wisecounty.com)
  • And at the risk of sounding like a car salesman: I want to move that thing.
  • It looks like there is a double funeral today at 10:00 a.m. for the two Alvord girls killed over the weekend.
  • And someone wrote me and pointed out there have been four other deaths in that little town within the last week --- all natural causes.
  • Theater of the Bizarre last night on MNF (Philly went up 35-0 after barely a quarter of the game):  Written Off Michael Vick never looked better (6 TDs) and Over Paid Donovan McNabb looked as awful as he really is.
  • Whatever happened to humorist Dave Barry?
  • iTunes is expected to announce today that it will finally carry the Beatles catalog.  Didn't Michael Jackson buy the rights to it several years ago? I know I heard that but I never hear anything about his Estate being involved in the iTunes negotiations.
  • And I'm leading the courthouse Fantasy Football league at 8-2 and that's despite cutting Michael Vick when I gave up on him after being hurt this year. (Me = Sports Genius.)
  • Despite it being in every news story yesterday, a full body scan at the airport doesn't bother me at all.
  • Women's Basketball Anyone? #2 Baylor plays #1 Connecticut today at 5:00 p.m. on ESPN2.  Connecticut brings in a 79 game winning streak.

What Jason Garrett's Wife Looks Like

She (1) is named "Brill", (2) has a degree from Princeton, and (3) a law degree from Harvard. (Source). But she's not listed in the Texas State Bar Directory so I wouldn't plan on seeing her up at the Wise County Courthouse any time soon.

Affluent Dallas Guys Create "Bearded Ski Mask" Product

Not a bad idea.

(Oh, and on an unrelated subject, Ranger pitcher Neftali Feliz was just named American League Rookie of the Year.)

(And more unrelated: The Philadelphia Eagles just lost their minds and gave QB Donovan McNabb a contract extension with $40 million guaranteed.) Edit: Ok, Ok. Redskins. Redskins.  I can never picture him out of that green uniform.

Random Monday Morning Thoughts

  • A 14 year old in Denton drives drunk and kills a 14 year old passenger?
  • Weird Facebook description of what happened to a Bridgeport High graduate who is about my age: "He was found wandering in a neighbor's yard at around 6:00 am. He was barefoot and not making sense. They called the ambulance and he collapsed and stopped breathing. Ericka said they started CPR and that took so long that it broke his ribs. His body temp was 85. He is on a ventilator now and has abdominal bleeding. They are care flighted him to JPS Then Ericka had also reported yesterday afternoon his kidneys had completely shut down..........."
  • NASCAR: I really couldn't care less about the "sport" but its scoring system for The Chase is silly. Jimmy Johnson, who is in second place must win the last race AND lead the most laps in order to win the championship. Dumb.
  • An oldie but goodie: Clumsy groomsman causes splash (although some people think it's fake.)
  • Jessica Simpson is engaged to former NFL player Eric Johnson. Uh, who's Eric Johnson?
  • Got to hear a tense lesson about "plagiarism" last night within the Family Unit. At least is started with the kid asking if it was alright to do what she did for her homework assignment.
  • I don't know anything about the Pacquiao fight at Cowboys' Stadium on Saturday night other than he threw 1,060 punches. Uh, that's a lot isn't it? (And this is what you look like after being on the receiving end of those punches.)
  • Before we all decide the Cowboys have turned things around, we might want to tap the brakes. Take away the 100+ yard interception return for a TD which amounts to a 14 point swing, and that game is completely different.
  • I'd of been a little scared if I were in Giants Stadium when the lights went out. Edit: Bloody brawl in the stands.
  • Mrs. LL is still gimped up with her wrists. She'll have to undergo one test, which I think is just a formality, before they/we decide about surgery.
  • MADD wants ignition interlock devices installed in all vehicles. Amazingly, I bet that happens one of these days. (It's not illegal to drink and then drive. It's illegal to drink, become intoxicated, then drive.)
  • A Fiona "Hey, Now"
  • Boise State is going to end up jumping TCU in the BCS after Boise beats Nevada. (Sorry, Jarhead.)
  • The First Baptist Church of Dallas unveils plans for a fountain that makes me ask "WWJD?"

College Football Redux

  • The Empire loses again and now has to win its last two games to become bowl eligible. That means any bowl.
  • The Aggies are good. If Baylor had a defense, they'd be great. They don't and they aren't.
  • Three Southern Miss football players were shot in a bar last night and are in critical condition? Edit: Upgraded to "stable".
  • Boise State jumps TCU in the AP Poll this morning.
  • Pro ball: Cowboy's  Marion Barber ignored the new coach's dress code this morning. Cut him before the game and send a message.
