Random Friday Morning Thoughts

A lady died while riding the Texas Giant at Six Flags in Arlington.

  • That's really a funny headline. "I can't make it to my ethics violation hearing because I'm being impeached."

  • This would seem to be the equivalent of Saudi Arabia once discovering it was sitting on oil.

  • Notable death overnight: Tony Bennett

    • Less noticeable death: The mother from Sixteen Candles.

  • Sheesh.

  • Non-Ticket fans probably don't understand this, but the earthquake of Cumulus and a mid-day show failing to come to a contract agreement is sending shock waves throughout its listener base. And I'm right there with them. I love these guys. They released a video yesterday which is hard to watch for those like me. (Dan has been with the station for 24 years. Jake started as an intern -- and now has a couple of tiny kids at home.)

  • Interesting out-of-county sponsor.

  • These are not serious people. I'll never understand how the "party of small government" lost its way.

  • Random recent population and other great data from Census Bureau about Wise County here

  • Jerry has to be a giddy. A franchise which hasn't been able to fill its stadium for years sells for over $6 billion.

  • Legal nerdy stuff: If you care about a Wise County case concerning divorce and separate property (real estate and acquired before the marriage but improvements made after the marriage),  there was an appellate opinion released out of Fort Worth yesterday about it.
  • Two headlines I've seen in the last 24 hours with related topics.
    • #1

    • #2

  • Time which has passed since the Wise County Sheriff's Office, despite having a full male DNA profile, has failed to solve the murder of Lauren Whitener in her home at Lake Bridgeport: 4 years and 17 days.
