Random Friday Morning Thoughts

ESPN sure was overly excited about Johnny Manziel's pro day. But even George W. Bush and Ricky Perry showed up for it.

  • Messenger - Above the Fold. (I forgot to post this yesterday.)
  • Last Friday, a school bus crash in Bastrop County killed two. The Austin-American Statesman knew the bus would have a dash cam so the paper made an open records request. They got it

  • The Rangers had months to figure out how to hang the World Series banner and managed to do it in a way that it has a crimp in it.

  • That's just a harsh sentence.

  • True this.

  • Of course.

  • Presidents Obama, Biden and Clinton got together last night in Manhattan.

  • I didn't believe this was real, but it was.  And if you think he was joking, he wasn't. He doubled down on it before he was exposed.

  • After bouncing around in appellate orbit for six years, the outrageous conviction in Fort Worth of Crystal Mason was overturned last night and an acquittal entered. Opinion.

    • These are the Tarrant County DA's lawyers responsible for the prosecution and trying to hang on to a the now declared wrongful conviction.

  • This story about CPS is on the front page of the Star-Telegram today, and it got my attention because it sounds exactly like the documentary called Take Care of Maya on Netflix -- which is really good.

  • A new book to be released about Southlake ISD which has implications close to home. I love the title.

  • Nothing says Jesus like an Alaskan cruise sponsored by a pastor and advertised during Easter week.

  • Just announced: Louis Gossett Jr., who won an Oscar for his drill sergeant role in An Officer and a Gentleman, has died.
  • Time which has passed since the Wise County Sheriff's Office, despite having a full male DNA profile, has failed to solve the murder of Lauren Whitener in her home at Lake Bridgeport: 4 years and 277 days.
