Random Thursday Morning Thoughts

Chaos in and around the Wise County Reunion.

  • New this morning. They key word is "together", but they did not enter U.S. airspace.

  •  Assassination attempt update:
    • Shooter news, The answer is 260 feet in case you were wondering. Matthew Crooks, the Trump gunman, ended up being 441 feet away.

    • FBI Director Wray also testified before Congress about what I suspected from the start. Video

  • President Biden addressed that nation last night but didn't really explain the exact reason he is stepping down from his presidential run.

    • Trump watched it.

    • Earlier in the day, Trump was once again weirdly talking about Hannibal Lecter. Video

  • Jack County news (which the Wise County DA has jurisdiction over): "The Jack County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Rangers have identified the victim of a 1984 homicide that occurred near Wizard Wells as Roberta Mumma." She was a 24 year old who last lived in Tennessee.

  • Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave an odd speech to Congress where he mentioned a South Carolina fraternity more than any plan to stop the war in Gaza.   And, yes, there were protestors outside who assaulted police and defaced property.  They have valid concerns, but did themselves no favors by acting stupid. Prosecute all of those who deserve it.

  • This doesn't make us feel any better about Uvalde. And they might want to cut back on the emoji usage.

  • The Business Second™.

  • When Kamala Harris was a U.S. senator, her then-office’s softball team was named the "Oxford Kamalas."  Come on, that's clever.

  • Update/Correction from yesterday: Fox and Friends' Brian Kilmeade says that he said "college sorority" and not "colored sorority."
  • Sports quick hits:
    • Some Texas Tech graduate must really like softball.

    • The always wheels off "State of the Cowboys" training camp press conference has finally been scheduled for 12:30 the afternoon. The time had been bounced around due to the love child trial in Texarkana which has now settled.

    • If you've got 1:11, watch the very odd and uncomfortable opening remarks of the UCLA head coach's opening remarks at the Big 10 media days.
  • Messenger: Above the Fold
