It's Friday - Let's Get Out of Here

Random Friday Morning Thoughts

Yep, Fox News actually did this

  •  I'm skeptical of this big news, but I don't have any concrete reason to be.

  • This should never even have to make it to the Supreme Court, but it probably will. And once there, Trump tends to get whatever he wants.

  • When the Blanco River flooded near Wimberley 2015 in the Hill Country, eight people died and the bodies of two children were never recovered.. This is beginning to the have that feel to it.

  • The confirmation vote will be this evening. He'll be approved.

  • Greg Abbott has sent a strongly worded letter. Really. Good luck with all that.

  • Weird little story out of Wichita Falls. You don't find a bomb alongside a creek everyday.

  • Trump heads to California today to see the wildfire damage. Prepare for some wheels off moments like last time if he and the governor get together.

  • Nothing matters. You can enter into a plea deal for bribery and then get your government job back paying $218,581.

Random Thursday Morning Thoughts

I use to throw questions out to the masses when I had comment section.  I still think about this one. I'm not sure I've ever been called an idiot quite so much as after this one.

  • I'm not sure how there were no serious injuries out of this, but there were not.

  • Schools are officially back from Christmas break.

  • "Crews accessed the elevator through the top, rescued the woman, and placed her into a working elevator next to the one she was stuck in. From there, she was brought to the top floor, where she could safely exit onto solid ground."

  • Wise County's new state rep is quickly demonstrating he's a nut.  His new bill will allow anyone who commits a federal crime (with a specific mention and nod towards Insurrection) to run to their local Texas sheriff who must approve the federal warrant before the Feds can arrest him.

  • The Texas legislature rolled out a proposed $332 billion (with a b) budget yesterday. Noteworthy:

  • Man does bit in Carrolton. Video.

  • In Fort Worth yesterday on I-35. "No major injuries."

  • A Play
    • Act I

    • Act II

  • Of course.

  • January 6th will be whitewashed into a National Holiday by the time all is said and done.

  • For Decatur folks:  If you might be interested in an update on Eula basketball coach Josh Fostel, the son of our late district judge, here you go.

Random Wednesday Morning Thoughts

The time Tiger Woods had a tooth knocked out

  • Trump and his clan attended the traditional inaugural prayer service yesterday morning and heard a sermon of compassion. Watching them all squirm was pretty entertaining.

    • He finally got all big mad in the middle of the night:

  • You are either going to care about this story or you won't, but this is pretty wild. He was serving a life sentence for creating the Amazon of drug trafficking stores (and probably hired a hitman or two):

    • I've written about this book before and it is absolutely fantastic.

    • When I visited the now-closed Newseum in D.C. a few years back and went through an FBI exhibit, they were so proud of the case they even had his seized laptop on display. I snapped this picture.

    • Trump, in his announcement, could have a least spelled his name right. (By the way, the "scum" Trump is referring to is the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York.  Strange times.)

  • New this morning: U.S. Attorneys will be keeping an eye on local police departments and sheriff's offices.

  • Hey, what happened to this promise?

  • Random Insurrection Pardon notes:
    • Rep. Lauren Boebert went to the federal prison in D.C. yesterday:

    • "Granbury-native Stewart Rhodes, founder of the Oath Keepers extremist group, was released from federal custody three years into his 18-year sentence for seditious conspiracy after being commuted." As expected, he showed no remorse.

    • It's really no surprise how basically every Republican lawmaker wouldn't condemn the pardons yesterday. That's because they fear Trump and his mob.  No one will stop him this time.
  • As we gear up for mass deportations, Trump held a press conference yesterday and showed he had no idea what that the H1-B visas are: "I know the program very well. I use the program, maître d's, wine experts, even waiters, high quality waiters. You got to get the best people." Video.  Sheesh.

  • The Business Second™. Netflix prices are going up again.

  • I didn't mention President Biden pardoning five family members yesterday because it made perfect sense to me.  He had to protect them against a madman who is capable of doing anything to anyone for no reason.
